IT Unit

The IT Unit is responsible for the Danish National Archives’ core IT functions.

IT is an important tool in realising the Danish National Archives’ strategy, and the unit coordinates the design of an overall IT infrastructure for the Danish National Archives’ system portfolio in close collaboration with the organisation.

The unit ensures that there is a firm overview and management of the IT system portfolio, including the underlying development plan. The unit’s tasks thus also include the purchase and development of the Danish National Archives’ dedicated systems.

The unit ensures that there is the required level of collaboration between the IT operations and the business and also ensures that there is an overview of business support and finance. The IT department manages the ongoing dialogue with the Danish Agency for Governmental IT Services concerning the operation of the Danish National Archives’ systems and the tasks associated with maintaining the portfolio of IT systems.

The unit also ensures that the Danish National Archives’ dedicated systems are managed in terms of their system status and future plans, and the unit also prepares an annual plan for the systems in order to improve security levels and ensure efficient operations. The IT department is also in charge of ensuring that IT processes and
documentation are anchored within the organisation.

Finally, the unit manages the Danish National Archives’ work with IT security, including compliance with ISO27001.

The tasks include:

  • IT development (and ongoing maintenance of systems developed in-house).
  • Management of the Danish National Archives’ IT system portfolio and IT processes.
  • System support (operation of the systems together with the Danish Agency for Governmental IT Services).
  • IT security (coordination of information security, including IT security).
