The Provincial Archives of Zealand cover the parts of the country east of the Great Belt, that is: Zealand, Lolland-Falster and Bornholm. The Provincial Archives are located in Copenhagen.
At the Provincial Archives, records are found from state and local authorities, institutions as well as from private individuals, associations and organisations in Zealand, Lolland-Falster and Bornholm.
The Provincial Archives of Zealand have a collection of almost 75 kilometres of records. Each year, the Archives are visited by more than 20,000 guests: genealogists, academic researchers, local historians - and private individuals searching for information in the archives.
Like the other regional archives, the Provincial Archives of Zealand have numerous records of great importance to genealogists. This includes Parish Registers, census lists and Probate Records.
Sources of special interest for emigration researches are also housed. The Copenhagen Police Records can provide material on emigration, e.g. original shipping lists and files on emigration agents.
